Hello,
I’m writing to you from a warm room on a chilly Brooklyn morning. Since the end of September Timmy and I have been out on the road. We kicked it off with The Antlers in Chicago, headed across the Midwest and up to Toronto, Buffalo (Niagara Falls!!) then down to DC, Philly, Dartmouth College (which IS an Ivy League school, dammit!) and finally back home with a show at Maxwell’s. You can hear a song from that set where The Antlers joined us onstage for a Pink Floyd cover. It was hard to leave The Antlers, we really fell head over heels for them.
More to come from Holly/The Antlers collaboration, don’t you worry…
A few days later, Timmy and I hopped a plane across the pond to London and played one night opening for the lovely Wild Beasts and Blue Roses (both really great bands!); took a train to Paris to meet up with The xx and the big orange tour bus. From there we drove to Amsterdam (with a couple stow-aways, no seriously) and had quite the Epica experience.
From there we played at a beautiful venue in Brussels (watch a video of us playing “No One Just Is”), after that we played a few shows in Germany, we had a minor set back in Munich when the bus broke down in the center of town on a very narrow turn (sorry drivers of Munich).
Alas, Rich the mighty tour manager and Terry the “extraordinary at everything” man, saved the day with an 11 hour train journey to Bologna (by way of fair Verona… where we all stopped and quoted a little Shakespeare).
The last few days are a bit of a sleepless daze, there was a show in Milan and a 4am flight back to London with The xx kids, who are absolute gems! We had such a blast with all of them..
Timmy and I played one more show (our first headlining) in London, before getting on a flight back to New York to play two shows as part of the College Music Journal Festival (aka CMJ… click here to see a video of “Mark My Words” at Le Poisson Rouge.
Lastly, a few days after the CMJ madness died down Timmy and I had the great honor of playing a show at Bowery Ballroom with our dear, dear friends Nada Surf backing us! Holy Crow! There are some good pictures here.
Its been a busy but interesting Fall so far, now we have two weeks to catch our breath before heading down to Austin and then out to the West Coast for a string of dates with The xx and The Friendly Fires!! We will be traveling from San Diego all the way to Vancouver, but I have a feeling the dates are going to go quickly, so get your tickets now!!
After that I’m checking out until February (when the record comes out… yessss!)… That was a lengthy, but much needed update…
I hope this finds you all well, and welcome to all the new additions.
Thank yous for the support!
